Carrabassett Valley Jewelry was started in the spring of 2006 after 10 years of silversmithing as a hobby. I learned this art during many years of attending summer camp on the shores of Sebago lake. I find the inspiration and stories for these designs in everyday objects, or in the natural world outdoors. I fabricate most pieces from sheets of sterling silver, piercing the designs with a jeweler’s saw (see picture at left). In some instances I bezel set natural gemstones as accents to the pierced design. Recently I have started to explore working with sterling wire as an accent detail, as forged links in a chain, and braided in traditional sailing knots. When a piece is finished, I sign each piece with my initials, write the year of completion, and hope that it will find a good home! |
