Environmental
I have always had 'envoronmentalist tendencies,' and finding myself in an industry not exactly known for its 'green' practices presented a bit of a challenge. I recently amped up my effort to make environmentally conscious decisions, the most impactful of which is that I now source all my sheet silver and wire from a company that uses reclaimed metal. Mining is an inherently destructive industry, and I feel glad knowing that I have cut it out of my supply chain.
My other supply company is powered entirely by solar energy, and has recently started making it easier to choose their products by coding all their sustainable products with green order numbers. As they offer more sustainable options I will certainly be choosing those as much as possible. I will be phasing in my new packaging material of recycled boxes as I use up my current stock, and am hoping to also buy products manufactured in the United States.
I am a firm believer that the little things add up over time to make a significant difference. My biggest fan base consists mainly of "outdoorsy people." I have yet to come up with a better name for my "target market", but I tend to have better sales at craft shows located in the mountains and lakes regions that attract people who are interested in being closer to nature. The attendees tend to make environmentally conscious decisions in their own life, and are willing to spend their money with a company that has similar values.
I am always open to comments and suggestions on how to improve in this area!
